Hello, I am the Marginalized Poet
What inpired me to start this blog?
I am currently a student in my third year who is an aspiring creative who gets inspired by experiencing real life events of the world surrounding me. As a Black woman in America, I have suffered first hand the painful effects of racism in today's society which refuses to change their ways. I, as well as my fellow people of color, cannot escape the strangling hands of oppression no matter where we are. Even when we think we are in the safe spaces of our homes. This is a sick reality that we shouldn't have to accept as "just apart of everyday life". Seeing my people slain in the streets and pushed to the sidelines constantly is extremely disheartening. Not only is this a prevalaent issue, we often do no get the justice we deserve. We have to scream from the rooftops that Enough is Enough. So I started this poetry series to intertwine my creative side with the side of me that wants to put up a good strong fight for her people. The poems that I write are not entirely polished, and can give off the rambling thoughts of someone who is witnessing all this turmoil at her feet, and that is exactly the point! I want to be a voice for the voiceless, speak up for all who are marginalized, and make sure that our shouts are positioned in a place in this world which will be impossible to ignore.
